Creation-science decision may take a week or more

Testimony ended Thursday in Arkansas's creation-science trial, and the federal judge who heard the case said he would need at least a week to reach his decision on the constitutionality of the controversial law.

US District Court Judge William Overton said he was not going to try to rule on the validity of the biblical or evolutionary theory of the creation of man, because that's not the issue in the case.

The trial ended after nine days of testimony by 27 people. The American Civil Liberties Union challenged the constitutionality of Arkansas's creation-science law, which was approved earlier this year by the state Legislature.
