Ghana's former President arrested by new regime

Ghana's new military rulers arrested ousted President Hilla Limann Monday at a police roadblock, four days after their New Year's Eve coup ended a brief two-year return to parliamentary democracy.

Accra Radio monitored here said Dr. Limann was arrested near the town of Koforidua, 45 miles north of the capital.

Eyewitnesses said the capital was calm four days after former Flight Lt. Jerry Rawlings swept to power. Heavily armed troops were still patrolling the streets.
