All's quiet on the Western farms.

A labor peace pact between the United Farm Workers (UFW), members of the AFL-CIO, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters has been extended for one year, greatly reducing the possibility of organizing wars in the fields. The Teamsters decided not to challenge the AFL-CIO this year.

Cesar Chavez's UFW is happy and promises more organizing among field workers and those in packing sheds. But Teamsters locals are angry: They were planning to send organizers into West Coast fields after the peace pact terminated in April.

A Salinas, Calif., Teamster official said that when the agreement was signed in 1977, the Teamsters ''walked away from about 55,000 people'' who were interested in unionizing.m
