Ex-Turkish premier faces jail for magazine article

Former Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit will face a military court April 29 for writing an article in the West German magazine Der Spiegel last month, a military spokesman said here. Mr. Ecevit's lawyers said he faced up to nine months in jail if convicted.

Turkey's military head of state, Gen. Kenan Evren, in a major speech last week, issued what he called a final warning to the former party leaders to keep out of politics.
