More West Bank deaths; Arabs warn of desperation
Four Palestinian youths on the West Bank were killed when a mine they were attempting to plant blew up, and moderate Arab leaders warned that a mood of desperation was developing in the Israeli-occupied territories. In Jerusalem, a 14-year-old girl died three days after being shot in the head by an Israeli civilian whose car was stoned by demonstrators.
In the Gaza Strip, Israeli soldiers fired at the legs of demonstrators in the Jebaliya refugee camp, reportedly wounding two Palestinians. Military sources said the trouble started when crowds threw stones and a Molotov cocktail at troops inside the camp.
In Beirut, four people were wounded when a booby-trapped car exploded near the house of Lebanon's Muslim leader, Mufti Hassan Khalid. Lebanese President Elias Sarkis denounced the latest violence against Muslim and Christian leaders in Lebanon.
