True complacency

In early June, to my delight, The grosbeak, lazy acolyte, Encourages his languid mate With songs that bubble in a spate Of notes, nest-building to incite. She listens and, soft eyes on him, Constructs a loose nest on a limb, Inspired by her ardent knight In early June. Her knight then, with his rosy breast, Takes turnabout upon the nest. He softly sings, and little knows, That through the nest his bright vest shows; So sure his home none will molest In early June.
