Regan says US might revamp pipeline sanctions

Treasury Secretary Donald Regan said Monday the Reagan administration might be willing to reconsider its controversial Soviet natural gas pipeline sanctions if the Europeans could find a way to resolve the dispute.

Noting that Western European officials met in London last week to discuss the pipeline controversy, Regan said the administration might want to ''consider the repercussions'' of its actions if European officials come up with some substantial moves toward a settlement. Regan is heading the American delegation to the four-day meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank that opened here Monday.

Meanwhile, a Soviet ship loaded with two Italian-built turbines for the Siberian pipeline left Italy, and the US Commerce Department announced a suspension of exports to Nuovo Pignone SPA - builders of the turbines - for violating President Reagan's embargo on supplying American technology for the pipeline.
