DC-10 crashes on takeoff as pilot reports vibrations

A DC-10 charter plane crashed during takeoff here, killing at least 46 people and injuring more than 100, airport officials said. It was bound for New York.

Spanish charter company Spantax said its plane crashed after the pilot tried to abort the takeoff when he detected a sudden abnormal vibration and reported engine failure.
