Uganda denies uprooting of a large ethnic group

Reports that tens of thousands of Rwandans have been uprooted from their homes in southwestern Uganda are grossly exaggerated, the Ugandan government told a United Nations official.

The UN official told reporters last week that young members of the ruling Uganda People's Congress Party were evicting ethnic Rwandans from their homes and forcing them to live in two crowded refugee settlements.
