Personal income up 0.7% last month, US reports

Additional unemployment benefits approved by Congress boosted the nation's personal income 0.7 percent last month, the biggest increase since May, the Commerce Department said.

Personal income increased $19 billion in October to an annual rate of $2.6 trillion. An increase in unemployment benefits and cost-of-living increases in other government benefit programs accounted for most of the month-to-month change.
