Judge delays execution set for Christmas Eve

A federal judge reversed himself Thursday and granted an indefinite stay of execution to convicted murderer Freddie Davis, who had been scheduled to die in Georgia's electric chair the day before Christmas.

US District Judge G. Ernest Tidwell gave Mr. Davis's attorneys until Jan. 14 to file briefs supporting their appeal.
