Polish debt is likely to increase next year

Poland's $25 billion debt to the West will increase by $3 billion next year despite the first projected improvement in economic conditions in four years, a Communist official said.

The increase was expected in part because of unpaid credit and interest, Communist deputy Jan Kaminski told the parliament in presenting a draft plan for economic recovery. Officials in recent weeks have said that the Polish economy has bottomed out and has ''seized a bridgehead'' toward recovery.
