Former Kissinger aide on list for MX panel
Palm Springs, Calif.
White House aides said former national-security adviser Brent Scowcroft is among the people President Reagan will name to a new commission charged with devising a deployment system for the MX missile.
The commission of seven to 10 members is to submit a report to the President within 60 days on how and where the MX missile should be based. Mr. Scowcroft, deputy White House national-security adviser under former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, served on an earlier panel that recommended putting the MX in airplanes or in the silos of the Minuteman missiles it is supposed to replace. Both plans were rejected.
