What to kick in for a park mule?

Grand Canyon National Park is looking for a few good mules. The National Park Service will be distributing a gift booklet worldwide next month seeking contributions for the canyon and other national parks in the region.

One of the gift ideas it includes is a mule, which, for $1,200, can be donated to replace one of the current 13, the park's superintendent, Dick Marks, said.

Other ideas in the booklet include trail maintenance at 80 cents a foot, a visitors kiosk information center for $6,000, hay money for horses, or picnic tables at $450 apiece.
