Reagan to Soviets: alter course on Jews, Poland

President Reagan called on the Soviet Union Wednesday to change its policies toward Soviet Jews, Poland, and Afghanistan as a condition for improving its relations with the West.

Speaking to members of the World Jewish Congress, Mr. Reagan directed most of his remarks at Soviet policies and what he called violent anti-Semitism. He also asked Israel and Arab countries to take risks to achieve a settlement in Lebanon and an overall Middle East peace.
