New leak will delay launch of Challenger

Another leak was found in the space shuttle Challenger's main engines, further delaying the ship's maiden launch. The new leak follows the earlier discovery of two leaks, which forced the launch date to be pushed back from Jan. 20 to March 19 or 20. A space agency source said the additional delay might be in the range of several days to a week. The troubles raise new questions about NASA's ability to maintain an ambitious flight timetable in the face of a serious shortage of spare engine parts as a result of cost cutting.
