Teamsters head gets maximum term in bribe

Teamsters union president Roy Williams was sentenced to the maximum 55 years in prison and fined $29,000 for attempting to bribe a senator. But US District Judge Prentice Marshall said he will review the sentence after 90 days, in light of Williams's serious health problems, and might then impose a lighter sentence. Three other defendants with close ties to the union also received prison sentences, Monitor labor correspondent Ed Townsend reports. Defense attorneys said they would appeal.
