Thousands of militant Sikhs blockaded roads in the north Indian state of Punjab, paralyzing traffic. It was part of a campaign to win greater autonomy and other concessions from the Indian government. Incidents of violence were reported in several cities, including Mubarakpur and the regional capital, Chandigarh.
