Summer school for cooks

This summer the Culinary Arts Division of Johnson & Wales College will celebrate its 10th anniversary by offering the most popular of its Cook'N'Tour weekend programs.

The selected programs, which include cooking lessons and dining, are ''Abbondanza Italian Cookery'' (April 22-24); ''Festive Buffet for Gala Occasions'' (April 29-May 1); ''Lavish But Light'' (May 20-22 and Aug. 12-14); ''Fruit of the Sea Cookery'' (July 22-24); ''Classical Cookery'' (July 29-Aug. 1 ); and ''Creative Holiday Buffet'' (Aug. 19-21).

Saturday's three-hour demonstration class is followed by a luncheon and an afternoon session on vegetable carving.

Events on Sunday include a leisurely brunch and a tour of historic Smith Castle in Wickford, R.I., or a visit to Newport, with a tour of one of the mansions.
