Walesa reports meeting with underground leaders

Lech Walesa, leader of Poland's banned Solidarity trade union, held a meeting over the weekend with leaders of the underground opposition movement, he disclosed in a communique.

It was the first reported meeting between Mr. Walesa and his former union colleagues, who coordinated the underground campaign against martial law, since the Solidarity leader was released from imprisonment last October. The move is considered potentially dangerous for Mr. Walesa. An official spokesman at the Polish prosecutor's office said he could be liable to arrest, depending on what was discussed at the meetings.
