Egypt sees little hope of PLO joining talks

Egyptian officials are irritated with US attempts to blame the Palestine Liberation Organization for the collapse of talks between Jordan's King Hussein and PLO leader Yasser Arafat.

In fact, Egypt sees little chance that Mr. Arafat will move toward a resumption of talks without further encouragement from the Reagan administration , reports Monitor contributor James Dorsey. ''The Palestinians are giving up,'' said one Egyptian official following a meeting Friday with senior PLO representatives.

Other officials see chances for peace negotiations dwindling and fear that last week's assassination of Dr. Issam Sartawi, a prominent PLO moderate close to Arafat, may be the beginning of a new cycle of violence.
