Lacrosse, anyone?

The game of lacrosse is still news to many Americans, even though it was invented by Native Americans and played as long ago as the nation's founding. But in relatively recent years it has spread fairly widely among women's teams as well as men's. (The rules are somewhat different, else how could the women get away without all that protective gear the men wear as those netted sticks flail through the air moving the ball up and down the field?)

It still comes as a bit of a surprise that Johns Hopkins University has played men's lacrosse for a hundred years. It has been celebrating the fact this month, along with the fact that it has been winning most of the time, too. Just mentioning it in case you want to take a lacrosse player to lunch this week.
