Michigan villagers leave for waste-site cleanup

Residents left their homes as ordered because of danger from Michigan's most hazardous waste dump site. The temporary evacuation at state expense was a precaution against potentially hazardous mixing of chemicals. In 1980, the owner of the dump declared bankruptcy when the state tried to force him to clean it up.
