The US will speed up significantly the process for approving high-technology exports to China. That was the word from Commerce Secretary Malcolm Baldrige during talks with Chinese leaders on trade issues. But he added that the US would still have to take into account its national security. Chinese-US trade relations have been marred by the issue of US restrictions on high-technology exports, including components that could find military uses.
