$720 tax-cut limit passes key test vote in House

The House, in a test vote Thursday, indicated it would defy President Reagan and approve Speaker Thomas O'Neill's proposal to limit the July 1 tax cut to a maximum of $720 a family.

The House voted 255-165, generally along party lines, for a procedural move clearing the way for debate and final passage of the tax cap.
