South Africa banned black nationalist Winnie Mandela for five more years. The wife of imprisoned black leader Nelson Mandela, she is much admired in her own right by South African blacks. Under South African rule, a banned person cannot be quoted publicly, attend public meetings, or be with more than one person at a time. Mrs. Mandela, who has been under government restriction for 20 of the last 21 years, has also been banished to a town 200 miles away from her home in Soweto near Johannesburg.
