Central America nations in accord on peace plan
Foreign ministers of nine Latin American countries, including the Contadora group, closed their peace plan talks Sunday. Five Central American countries approved measures aimed at implementing a peace plan put forward by the Contadora group, which includes Mexico, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela.
The measures emphasize demilitarization of the region and calls for three special commissions to work on peace treaties.
The document proposes establishing an inventory of arms and a timetable for reduction and eventual elimination of foreign military advisers.
