NRC vows to check snags at A-plant in California

All allegations of problems at California's troubled Diablo Canyon nuclear plant will be checked before operations there are permitted, the chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said Tuesday.

Opening of the plant has been delayed for several years, first because it was found to be near an earthquake fault area along the Pacific coast and then after pipes were installed improperly.

Over 100 allegations of other design and construction problems have been made to the NRC and each will be checked, chairman Nunzio Palladino told the House Interior Committee.
