21,000 farmers arrested in protests in south India

More than 21,000 farmers have been arrested in four days of protests against low crop prices and land redistribution in the south Indian state of Karnataka, the Press Trust of India news agency said.

It quoted police as saying at least 1,500 protesters had blocked railway lines in Karnataka's Mandya district Sunday for the second day running, holding up several trains.
