Challenger's crew launched an Indonesian satellite Monday but tracking stations reported its telltale beep was hours overdue, raising concerns of a repeat of last week's failure that left a similar satellite in a hopeless orbit.

An identical rocket on the Western Union Westar 6 satellite launched from Challenger Friday misfired and left that satellite stranded more than 21,000 miles too low.
