US Embassy security chief is killed in San Salvador

A gunman firing from a taxi killed Joaquim Alfredo Zapata Romero, the Salvadorean chief of security at the US Embassy, Monday, authorities said. His wife was also wounded, but a daughter traveling with them was unharmed, they said. No group immediately claimed responsibility and police said they had no leads.
