I Should Like To...

I should like to walk into the misty sky And wander so far That I can climb above that pearly veil And ride on the clouds With my back to the world. And when it starts to rain, I'll gently float down on a drop of water.

I should like to walk through a garden Which is invisible to all except myself And pick the tangy fruits And taste that they are pulpy, tender, and sharp.

I should like to be the wind, Blowing the feathers off dandelion clocks; Tossing the wayside poppies to and fro; Spreading the pollen from the tiger lilies; Whipping glistening objects Into a shimmering spiral tower And suddenly releasing them To watch them gently floating down and down.
