Rebel base in north Lebanon attacked by Israeli copters

Israeli helicopters attacked a guerrilla base near the northern Lebanese coastal city of Tripoli Wednesday which served as a staging point for attacks on Israeli targets from the sea, the Israeli military command said. The command said the attack was carried out ''as part of the standing policy of striking at terrorists wherever they may be and disrupting their organizational and operational capability.''

Military sources said the guerrilla base was used by the pro-Syrian Abu Moussa faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
