Treasury chief challenges Mondale to air a budget

Treasury Secretary Donald Regan challenged Walter Mondale yesterday to make public his own budget and economic projections rather than attack the Reagan administration's newly released forecast as ''garbage.''

Mr. Mondale has pledged to slash the deficits by two-thirds by the end of the next presidential term, partly through raising taxes. He has also said he would boost spending for certain domestic programs. Mondale has said he will wait to release his own projections until after the administration and the Congressional Budget Office turn in theirs.
