AMA sues to block freeze on medicare charges

The American Medical Association, saying doctors should be able to set fees on a case-by-case basis, has filed suit to block the federal government from freezing medicare charges for 15 months.

Under a deadline set by the Health Care Financing Administration, doctors would have to decide by Oct. 1 whether to accept a government price list for treating patients.
