World Food Day seeks support to fight hunger

The United Nations marks World Food Day today to draw public attention to the half-billion people around the globe who are severely undernourished, Monitor correspondent Louis Wiznitzer reports. The UN hopes to increase public support for financial, political, and technical efforts of governments to fight hunger. Particular attention will be given to UNICEF, specializes in fighting malnutrition among children. At least half the people who starve in the third world are young children.
