Israel presents four conditions for troop pullout in Lebanon
Israel presented US Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger Wednesday with four conditions for pulling Israeli troops out of Lebanon and asked for US mediation on a withdrawal agreement:
* A commitment from Syria not to redeploy its troops in eastern Lebanon into areas vacated by Israel.
* A commitment to block ''infiltrations for terrorism from within territories under the control of the Syrian Army.''
* An agreement with Lebanon to recognize the Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army.
* An agreement on deployment of the 10-nation UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the northern zone now occupied by Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres made the statement after Lebanon agreed to hold military-level talks with Israel under UN auspices to discuss security arrangements for Israel's pullout.
In Washington, US officials said Tuesday that Israel may not receive all the aid it wants for fiscal 1986 - about $4 billion - but it is likely to receive ''a substantial increase.'' Combined military and economic aid to Israel for 1985 is now $2.6 billion.
