Many British children polled in Bristol expect fatal A-war
Nearly half of the schoolchildren questioned in a British survey believe they will die in a nuclear war, according to results published Monday. The survey, carried out on 561 children in this western England city, showed that 46 percent expected a nuclear war to occur within their lifetime.
A minority of 39 percent supported a defense policy based on nuclear weapons, while 88 percent believed Britain's Conservative government was not doing enough to remove the threat of nuclear annihilation.
Fewer than 1 in 5 of the children believed that nuclear war would never happen.
