Freedom of information is in jeopardy, says journalist

The newly elected president of the nation's largest journalism organization attacked ''secrecy in government'' Saturday and warned of threats to the federal Freedom of Information Act.

Frank Sutherland, the newly-elected president of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi, addressed the society's 75th anniversary convention. The convention approved a resolution urging Congress to approve legislation designed to strengthen the effectiveness of the act.
