2,230 arrested in Lima, Peru, in hunt for leftist guerrillas

Police hunting leftist guerrillas arrested 2,230 people in a weekend raid in Peru's capital and later released all but 200, police spokesmen said Monday. Some 30 of those still in custody were suspected Shining Path guerrillas. In an operation Nov. 12, 10,000 people were rounded up and 40 rebel suspects detained.
