FRIDAY Great Performances (PBS, 9-11 p.m.): Jonathan Miller directs an English National Opera production of ``The Mikado'' - in the style of a Marx Brothers film. SUNDAY NFL football (CBS, NBC: beginning 1 p.m., ET): Live coverage of regional pro-football games. Check local listings for the game to be telecast in your area. Family Ties (NBC, 8-8:30 p.m.): Season premi`ere of the popular comedy series about parents who grew up in the freewheeling '60s trying to raise kids in the conservative '80s. Fueling the Future (PBS, 10-11 p.m.): ``No Deposit, No Return'' looks at the recycling movement and the United States' massive trash-disposal crisis.

MONDAY Analyzing the vote (ABC, 7-9 a.m., E.T.): Each day this week, ``Good Morning America'' sends co-host Charles Gibson to several key states to see what issues are decisive as election day nears... Campaign: Promises! Promises! (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ...and if you want more, Bill Moyers examines the campaign as seen by Jamaica, Queens, a drug-and-violence-troubled New York City area where government is failing its first duty - to keep order - and where campaign rhetoric sounds especially hollow.

TUESDAY The American Experience (PBS, 9-10 p.m.): ``The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter'' documents how the US servicemen who went off to World War II were replaced in the workplace by skilled and dedicated women - decades before our peacetime ``discovery'' of this giant untapped resource.

WEDNESDAY Mission to Moscow (ABC 8:30-9:30 p.m.): ``Head of the Class'' went on location in Moscow - perhaps the first American comedy series to do so - and this special chronicles some of the striking experiences the cast and crew had there.

THURSDAY Cary Grant: A Celebration (ABC, 10-11 p.m.): The feeling grows among critics and moviegoers that Grant - a great light comedian - was the quintessential screen artist, not to mention an enduring glamour figure. Michael Caine hosts this tribute filled, of course, with lots of clips.

Schedules may vary in some time zones. Please check local listings, especially for PBS, where individual stations often air programs on differing days and times.
