KAIFU SWORN IN AS JAPAN'S NEW PREMIER
Japan's new Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu was sworn in Thursday with an all-new administration. Taro Nakayama was chosen as foreign minister and Ryutaro Hashimoto as finance minister.
To improve the traditional ``old man's club'' image of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Mr. Kaifu appointed two women, the first time two females have served together in any Japanese Cabinet. The women ministers are Sumiko Takahara, director-general of the economic planning agency, and Mayumi Moriyama, director-general of the environment agency.
