A weekly update of film releases FUNNY ABOUT LOVE - Not funny enough. Christine Lahti gives a strong performance, though, in this tale of a couple that can't make up its mind about having a baby. Leonard Nimoy directed. (Rated PG-13)

THE KILL-OFF - Practically everyone has a motive for murdering the local gossip; who'll actually do it? This small-town film noir is as wild and weird as a month's worth of ``Twin Peaks,'' and leagues above filmmaker Maggie Greenwald's past work. Be warned that it's relentlessly sleazy, though. (Not rated)

MEMPHIS BELLE - World War II yarn about American fliers assigned to bomb a German target. The picture is well made, in an old-fashioned way that recalls Howard Hawks's classic ``Air Force.'' It may be ill-advised to take such military nostalgia at face value in today's world, however. Directed by Michael Caton-Jones. (Rated PG-13)

WELCOME HOME, ROXY CARMICHAEL - She's a celebrity, and her home town can't wait for her impending visit; especially worked up is a lonely teenager who's convinced the glamorous Roxy is her real mother. The story raises poignant issues related to family life and ``fitting in,'' but fails to do much with them. Jim Abrahams directed. (Rated PG-13)
