SURVEY SEES LITTLE VIOLENCE BY POLICE

A nationwide poll, prompted by the Los Angeles police beating scandal, offered this view on police brutality Saturday: It said few Americans believe their local police often use violence. A survey for Time magazine and CNN found that only 9 percent of Americans feel their local police use violence against private citizens "very often," 13 percent felt such incidents occurred "fairly often," and 48 percent felt they happened "on occasion."
