SANDINISTAS THREATEN PROTESTS FOR POOR
Former Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said Saturday his opposition Sandinista National Liberation Front did not rule out armed rebellion to oppose what he said were efforts to reverse the country's leftist revolution."We have used civic rebellion," he told a Sandinista rally. "But the Sandinista Front cannot renounce armed rebellion if the National Assembly tries to take away the rights the people have conquered." The Sandinistas say conservatives in the ruling National Opposition Union (UNO) want to strip the poor of property handed out during the Sandinista's 10-year rule. UNO officials say they do not intend to affect the poor, but want to force senior Sandinista officials to return appropriated government property.
