CD SALES COULD REACH 80 PERCENT OF MUSIC SALES

Compact disc sales rose 22 percent in 1991 and accounted for over half of the combined total of all recorded album consumption in Western Europe, the US, and Japan.

This growth will continue, although at a slower rate, until 1995, when CDs are likely to account for 80 percent of all music purchases, according to BIS Strategic Decisions.
