For the business traveler, New York City is the most expensive place to visit, according to Runzheimer, a consulting firm. Three meals and overnight lodging for a business traveler in the Big Apple cost $294 on average, followed by Washington D.C. ($248), and Honolulu ($238).

Inexpensive bed and board can be had in Macon, Ga., for $73; and in Fayetteville, N.C.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Wheeling, W. Va. for around $74.
