ELECTRONICS EXPORTS STILL KEY TO NEW ENGLAND ECONOMIC POWER

* Exports of electronics and electrical equipment continue to be an important part of New England's economic strength, but the region's electronics companies must develop a global marketing perspective to stay competitive.

Those are some key findings of "The Export Market Report on New England Electronics," published by the Massachusetts Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Massachusetts.

The estimated $5.5 billion in electronics exports from New England in 1991 accounted for more than 10 percent of total United States electronics exports, according to the report. In contrast, total New England exports accounted for about 5.5 percent of all US exports in 1991.
