WORTH NOTING ON TV

* FRIDAY

Wimbledon (NBC, 1-5 p.m.): Both men's semifinals will be aired - one live, one by same-day tape - in the tennis classic from England.

Chihuly (PBS, 10:30-11 p.m.): A documentary look at the artistry and lifestyle of a man generally considered the world's foremost glass artist - a subject far more engrossing and impressive than you might think. He's seen at work in his ``hot shop'' creating pieces from molten glass and getting his works ready for an art exhibition. * SATURDAY

Wimbledon (NBC, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m., E.T.): Live coverage of the women's final. * SUNDAY

Wimbledon (NBC, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., E.T.): Men's final, live.

A Capitol Fourth (PBS, 8-9:30 p.m., E.T.): Some 350,000 people are expected to turn out for this now-traditional live broadcast from the lawn of the nation's capitol. That number may not equal the throng attending Pavarotti's concert at New York City's Central Park on June 26, but it should be the critical mass needed to give this event - marking its 13th airing - the festive feel it needs. Musical performers range from Rita Moreno to Johnny Cash to pianist Peter Nero, and the National Symphony Orchestra

is conducted by Erich Kunzel. Military music groups like the Air Force's Singing Sergeants and the Army's Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps also perform, but the highlight - for the people there, at least - may prove to be the truly spectacular fireworks display scheduled for the end of the show. They will be set off as the Marine Band plays and a chorus sings. E.G. Marshall is the host.

Lean on Me (ABC, 9-11:15 p.m.): Network TV premiere of the 1989 film based on the true story of Joe Clark, the bellowing, bullying - and highly controversial - principal who loomed large a few years ago when he straightened out a high school plagued by drug-dealing and apathy. Morgan Freeman turns in a forceful performance as Clark.
