A new survey has found that incomes among truckers who own their vehicles jumped 23.5 percent or $5,679 during 1992. The average owner-operator income was $29,790 in 1992, according to Road King Magazine.

The average income among drivers who work for other companies rose only $300 to $27,315. Average annual mileage driven by "over-the-road" truckers has not changed signficantly from about 100,000 over the past three years.
